Travelling to Scotland

There are many direct flights to both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports. Please get in touch if you need help finding suitable connections. Also check out www.skyscanner.net.

Travelling to Arran

Access to the isle of Arran is via a 55 minute ferry crossing from Ardrossan Harbour on the Scottish west coast. Sailings are pretty frequent and you can find the timetable on the Caledonian MacBrayne website. You can book tickets online in advance, but unless you bring a car you can get your ticket at the ferry terminal in Ardrossan and don’t need to pre-book. Let us know which ferry you’ll arrive on as we can arrange complimentary pick up at the terminal in Brodick if needed. The journey from the ferry terminal to the Big Beach House takes around 20 minutes by car and the address is Shore Road, Whiting Bay, Isle of Arran, Scotland, KA27 8PZ.

Ardrossan Harbour is connected to the rail network and the journey from Glasgow Central Station takes around 45-50 minutes. For the current ferry timetable, which also includes rail connections from and to Glasgow Central Station, click here.

Those arriving by air at Glasgow International Airport can take a shuttle bus to Paisley Gilmour Street train station, where a train will connect with the ferry at Ardrossan.

Travelling to Mull

The best way to get to the isle of Mull is taking the ferry from Oban, from where the crossing takes 45 minutes to Craignure in Mull. There are several crossings per day, even in the winter season, and we’ll advise you which ferry to take if you’d like to be picked up on arrival. The latest timetable can be found on the CalMac website. Tickets cost £6.90 return per person and £26 return for a car (as in 2017/18 winter timetable). Killiechronan Estate is located 14 miles (around 20 mins drive) from Craignure Ferry Terminal.

The easiest way to get to Oban by public transport is by train from Glasgow Queen Street station. The journey takes around 3 hours. The train journey from Edinburgh is also via Glasgow Queen Street and takes just over 4 hours in total. We’ll be happy to help you find the best travel connections!
