Mull and Iona ~ Far from the madding crowd

Despite it being so easy to get to, you can find stunning places of tranquillity and unpolluted skies on Mull. Mull (Scottish Gaelic: Muile, pronounced [ˈmulʲə]) is the second largest island of the Inner Hebrides (after Skye), off the west coast of Scotland. It has an incredible coastline of around 300 miles and an area of 338 square miles. The highest mountain on Mull is Ben More, with 966 metres the highest mountain in the area. Spring on Mull is beautiful with iconic wildlife and dynamic ever-changing landscapes where you can truly immerse in nature and feel close to the elements. For information on how to get to there please check out the practicalities pages.

Cracked Rock Fionnphort

Weather allowing, an excursion to the tiny isle of Iona with its spiritual feel and lovely white beaches will be a must! Just 3 miles long and 1 mile wide, Iona is known as one of the most iconic and sacred places in the world, where the beauty and diversity of the land and seascapes – even the quality of the light – have been sources of inspiration for generations of travellers, artists and spiritual seekers.

Accommodation & catering

Our accommodation is at Killiechronan Estate in Mull. The house is peacefully and centrally located next to Loch na Keal on the west coast of the island. It has the cosy character of a lived in, traditional Scottish house – with fireplaces, individually decorated bedrooms (all en-suite) and beautiful views.

We may have the occasional meal out but most meals will be freshly prepared in-house by Alison or Lesley. The focus is on delicious as well as healthy, with high quality ingredients, where possible organic and locally sourced. The range of food includes some things you wouldn’t find in your standard hotel menu – such as freshly baked waffles with quark and fresh berries for breakfast. Oh, and of course I need to mention cake!

Ute will compose some extra special smoothies for you and we’ll definitely bring a supply of caliente (really thick hot chocolate with chilli) for you to enjoy by the fire. Good coffee and a selection of black and herbal teas, as well as soft drinks will be available throughout. You can also help yourself to wine and prosecco (in moderation). Enjoyment is good for you. We will, of course, respect and accommodate any food intolerances and dietary preferences as much as we can (info to be provided at the time of booking).

Feelgood programme full of tasty treats

Enjoying and being in the here and now, with all this brings along, are at the core of all Soul Spas. With Spring in full flow, you can soak in the sounds, smells and vistas of these beautiful Hebridean islands. Mull is famous for its rich wildlife, so we’re taking you on a relaxing evening excursion to observe the wildlife at a more peaceful and tranquil time of the day. Watch the beautiful wildscapes slowly turn golden in the sunset as we search for Otters, Eagles, Seals, Hen Harriers and many other bird species, with our nature tour guide.

A daily schedule may be:

  • Joint yoga practice and morning meditation
  • Breakfast
  • Something creative (e.g. creating memory objects)
  • Lunch, followed by free afternoon
  • Early-ish dinner
  • Evening wildlife excursion

There will be plenty time to relax and drift, and every day has some creative ideas and activities built in.

Friendly Local

The little things

Fire & Rain soul spas have been planned and designed with much attention to detail to make everything as enjoyable as possible for our guests. We keep adding things and ideas whenever we come across something inspiring or useful, such as a journal to scribble down your thoughts and notes during your stay. And you don’t have to worry if you’ve forgotten our toothbrush or body lotion. Our hospitality basket will be filled with useful things, just in case.

So….reserve your space here!

    1. Hi Susan. All of the soul spas are a mindful way of holiday-ing with daily mindfulness exercises and activities. The Magical Mull one has more formal mindfulness teaching with Dr Avinash Bansode built in which the Hebridean Wildscapes one hasn’t. At Killiechronan wifi access is at the moment limited to a certain area on the ground floor – this may have changed by the time the soul spas start taking place there, can’t promise though 😉
